Last week I got handed the keys. The metaphorical, social media keys to the Welsh capital and the opportunity to share how a week in my home city pans out via the Cardiff Is Yours Twitter feed.
I’m sure we’re all often guilty of not appreciating fully that which is handed to us on a plate and residing, right there, on our door step. The grass is all too often greener on the other side. Believe me, I’ve been there – on both sides. The longing in London to inhale lungfuls of fresh, Welsh air yet the sheer frustration that not every pub I frequent on my now home turf serves a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc by the glass (heaven forbid)!
I’ve lived a bit in limbo since the big move back to South Wales. Nearly every week has involved at least one trip to London, sometimes two and an average of every other weekend spent on airbed in South West London as I attended course lectures.
But last week, last week was different. I arrived back from London on Sunday night ready to embrace my Tweeting duties. And do you know what? It was brilliant. I felt right at home, I did so many local things, appreciated so many frequent sites and exhausted pretty much every filter Instagram has to offer.
Here are some of the highlights:
Do you feel you give your local area the love and attention it deserves?
