Quality counts

from 9th April 2013 by .

I woke up and had my usual browse of my social media feeds and came across this gem:   It got me thinking right away and I was desperate to share. If you do one thing on this Tremendous Tuesday, start thinking about what you’re putting in your body.

Book review: Fitter Food – A lifelong recipe for health and fat loss

from 7th April 2013 by .

I have so much time for Matt and Keris of Fitter London. Their excellent health and fitness knowledge aside, I totally admire their entrepreneurial spirit and these guys are serious grafters. In support of their hard work, I bought a copy of their first book (can you tell I’m hoping there will be more?) “Fitter […]

Back in the game

from 7th April 2013 by .

Early March I found myself in bed with a heavy cold. It took yonks to shift. I finally made it back to CrossFit in the middle of the month. I arrived, fired up, psyched. For all those folks that are used to training hard and often you’ll know how good it feels to finally get […]

The New Life / The Good Life

from 7th April 2013 by .

Week 1 of a whole new life is almost drawing to a close. My husband and I met in 2009. On his first visit to South Wales, to meet the fam, in May of that year we took this pic. Andy not only fell in love with the ice cream but the whole area and […]

King’s College London hosted an excellent ‘festival’ (for want of a better term) this week and last called ‘Feed Your Mind’. The session ‘Does Healthy Eating Cost More’ taught me tonnes.

Kitchen bravery

from 12th March 2013 by .

I love cooking. It’s a way for me to relax, a form of release. I’m a provider. It makes me extremely happy to see others enjoying my food. That said, I’m aware of my kitchen comfort zone, tend to wheel out a regular selection of favourites I know my husband is a big fan of […]

Running for a very different purpose

from 3rd March 2013 by .

Last year I ran three marathons in three months. Ridiculous, huh? This year fate has been cruel (kind?) and ensured I’ve secured a ballot place in the London Marathon. If only such things happened when I buy a lotto ticket… My husband and sister are also running the London Marathon (a first for them both) […]

Cult v Community

from 5th February 2013 by .

CrossFit gets a really (unfair) bad rap for all sorts of things. Its most frequent criticism is being branded a ‘cult’. Regardless, I’m all for a ‘cult’ that offers support, compassion and the most unrivalled sense of community I’ve ever come across. We weren’t even this tight in the Brownies for crying out loud!

Losing someone to cancer changes everything

from 28th January 2013 by .

Losing my Mum to cancer was pretty horrific. Not least of all because it seems totally unfair that someone you’ve adored and admired your whole life is cruelly taken away from you.
